Updated Technology Keeps Swim Meets Running Smoothly at Lander Pool

  • Local Champion: Fremont County School District #1
  • Date Funded: December 11, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $11,600

In Lander, hundreds of competitive swimmers of all ages use the Bruce Gresly Aquatic Center for practices and meets throughout the year, but mismatched technology creates many problems, causing delays, communication breakdowns, and even complete system crashes during competitions. The incompatible equipment makes it difficult for volunteers to operate, delays results and event starts, and leaves hundreds of spectators sitting in stands with little communication about what’s happening or when issues will be resolved. When the head coach of the Lander Swim Club mentioned these technology challenges while discussing event sponsorship with LOR, the timeline for addressing them suddenly accelerated after the entire system crashed during a weekend meet. Compatible technology with minimal cording (plus backup cables) will allow the frequent practices and multiple weekly meets to run efficiently, letting swimmers focus on performance, coaches on instruction, and volunteers on their assigned roles. LOR’s funding will help purchase a complete integrated system including computers, sound equipment, timing system, touchpads, and accessories, with the school district committing to a replacement rotation that maintains compatibility going forward.
