Updated Equipment Library Keeps Lander Seniors Mobile and Connected

  • Local Champion: Lander Senior Citizens Center
  • Date Funded: March 17, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $5,300

In Lander, seniors and residents recovering from surgery often need temporary mobility equipment, but purchasing these costly items for short-term use isn’t feasible for many. The Lander Senior Center’s lending program offers a solution, but its inventory can’t keep up with demand and much of the equipment has deteriorated from heavy use. When the manager of Wind River Home Oxygen recognized this gap as part of her company’s quarterly community service initiative, she reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help purchase new mobility devices while Wind River Home Oxygen contributes assembly, quality checks, and ongoing maintenance for the equipment. This partnership ensures seniors can continue participating in community life during recovery periods that might otherwise leave them isolated, while establishing a sustainable system for equipment maintenance that will extend the program’s impact for years to come.
