Team Parkas Keep Lander Soccer Players Ready to Play in Unpredictable Spring Weather

  • Local Champion: A Lander local

  • Grant Amount: $2,000

In Lander, the high school boys soccer team plays in spring when Wyoming’s unpredictable weather often feels more like winter, leaving players on the sidelines in shorts while it rains or snows. When muscles are cold, players coming off the bench struggle to start strong, and benched players get too cold while waiting to rotate back in. A booster club member realized that parkas rotating through players would solve this problem and keep muscles warm for optimal performance. The booster club could sustain a parka program if they had help getting started, so she reached out to LOR. The 16 parkas will be owned by the booster club and rotated among players as they come on and off the bench throughout games. The booster club plans to purchase additional parkas each year to maintain the program and keep equipment in good shape. LOR’s funding will help purchase 16 parkas.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Lander Community Foundation.
