Swimsuit Extractors End Wet Locker Problems at Lander Pool

  • Local Champion: Fremont County School District #1
  • Date Funded: December 15, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $7,783

In Lander, the pool’s stacked metal lockers create an ongoing problem for the many residents who use the facility daily for swim lessons, water aerobics, recreational swimming, club practice, and high school teams—wet swimsuits hanging in upper lockers drip onto clothes, towels, and gear stored below. A high school student who has swum at the pool his entire life noticed this frustrating issue and saw a solution when competing at other facilities around the state that have swimsuit extractors. After experiencing how convenient these machines are for quickly removing water from suits, he reached out to LOR with a plan to install extractors in both locker rooms. The units will benefit swimmers who practice twice daily and need dry suits for their second session, recreational swimmers heading home after their workout, and anyone using backup suits that currently get soaked during the drying process. LOR’s funding will help purchase two swimsuit extractors plus cover plumbing and electrical installation by the school district’s regular contractors, creating a simple solution to an everyday annoyance experienced by Lander pool users of all ages.
