Surgical Equipment Helps Clinic Close the Veterinary Care Gap in Taos

  • Local Champion: Taos Feral Feline Friends
  • Date Funded: February 9, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $27,020

When Taos County’s community animal shelter discontinued services at the same time as three prominent local spay/neuter providers, it created a significant problem for pet owners and residents attempting to manage the town’s feral animal population. A longtime animal welfare advocate reached out to LOR with a solution to increase access to local veterinary services: establish a clinic operated by Taos Feral Feline Friends that will provide free spay/neuter services and low to no-cost veterinary care. Support from the LOR Foundation will help to launch the clinic by funding the purchase of two anesthesia machines, surgery lights, and instrument packs needed to provide critical care to Taos’ four-legged friends.
