Studio Tours Connect Cortez Artists with Patrons

  • Local Champion: A Cortez local
  • Date Funded: July 16, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $7,200

Cortez has a vibrant arts scene, but the community has just three galleries where local artists can display and sell their work. For some local artists, the limited gallery space is an existential problem, limiting their opportunities to connect with art enthusiasts and potential buyers. One Cortez local had participated in organized artist tours in New Mexico, an idea he thought would be successful in Cortez. So, he came up with a plan to help Cortez artists showcase their work, methods, and inspiration by opening their studios to the public. LOR’s funding helped the local and a small group of volunteers advertise a local studio tour, create a website and maps for the tour, and hold an artist reception, creating a new pipeline to connect Cortez artists and buyers.
