Softball Equipment Helps Level the Playing Field for Taos Lady Tigers

  • Local Champion: Taos Municipal Schools
  • Date Funded: March 18, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $17,440

The Taos High School Softball team has long lacked the proper resources to prioritize its members’ accessibility and safety. When old equipment and uniforms began to pose safety hazards and create financial barriers to participation (the cost of participating had risen from $250 to $700 in just a couple of years), the high school’s assistant coach contacted LOR for help. LOR’s support will provide the softball players with an equal opportunity to build their skills—without placing a financial burden on students and their families—by funding the construction of a batting cage and purchasing new catcher’s gear, helmets, and practice balls.
