Sheep and Goats and Pigs, Oh My! A Stall System Creates New 4-H Opportunities in Libby

In the last few years, 4-H has taken off in Libby driven by interest in small livestock animals, such as swine, sheep, and goats. But for kids who have pigs or sheep, there’s a gap. Libby’s fairgrounds have limited equipment for small livestock, so youth with those animals have fewer opportunities at the Lincoln County Junior Fair. Members of the South 40 4-H Club reached out to LOR with a solution: purchase and build a portable stall system. LOR’s funding will help the group buy six dozen movable panels, which will create new opportunities for swine, sheep, and goat projects while also serving as temporary housing for animals during local emergencies.
