Shade Tents Protect Taos’ Special Olympics Athletes

  • Local Champion: Special Olympics New Mexico, Inc
  • Date Funded: May 13, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $1,200

Taos’ Special Olympics athletes and volunteers are regularly exposed to intense heat and sun during outdoor practices and events, a problem that has kept some from participating. One dedicated volunteer wanted to improve participants’ well-being and continue to grow Taos’ Special Olympics program, so she reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help Special Olympics New Mexico purchase durable shade tents, ensuring athletes and volunteers can stay cool and maintain their focus on competition and community.
