Quarterly Zine Creates Platform for Lander’s Amateur Writers and Artists

  • Local Champion: Lander local
  • Date Funded: July 24, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $975

In Lander, amateur writers and artists struggle to find venues to showcase their work, as most art spaces feature professional creators. After recognizing this gap, one poet and arts advocate had an idea to create an inclusive platform where all residents could share their creative voices: a quarterly community zine that welcomes submissions from anyone—whether opinion pieces, creative writing, poetry, or visual art—at no cost to contributors. Distributed for free at coffee shops, restaurants, the library, and other Lander businesses, this 10- to 12-page publication aims to spark conversations and bring diverse community perspectives together. The project creates a space for local discourse while encouraging cross-pollination of ideas among different groups. LOR’s funding will help cover printing costs for the first year, and organizers will work to secure local business sponsorships to sustain printing costs beyond the inaugural year.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Lander Community Foundation.
