Public Art Helps Weiser Residents Understand Their Ecosystem

  • Local Champion: City of Weiser
  • Date Funded: December 18, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $6,500

The City of Weiser is home to abundant plant and animal life, especially along the pathway and pond around the Weiser River. However, most residents don’t have an easy and accessible way to learn about the native plant and animal species that call the area home–which has become a particular problem as some locals haven’t treated the area with respect. To address the problem, a local artist hoped to better educate Weiser residents by building a tile mosaic triptych near the pond that will explain the diversity of the ecosystem. With LOR’s help, the public artwork will installed with the hope that it will inspire community members to better protect the landscape and critters living along the Weiser River.
