Powered Doors Help All Libby Residents Access Their Local Government

  • Local Champion: City of Libby
  • Date Funded: May 24, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $16,237

Libby’s City Hall houses all of the city of Libby’s departments, as well as offices for the Montana Highway Patrol, Montana Department of Revenue, and the Pure North Athletic Club. Each week hundreds of residents visit the building, though for some it’s more difficult than others. City Hall doesn’t have disability friendly doors, making it inaccessible for those using wheelchairs or walkers. It’s an issue residents have raised and the city has wanted to address, but a solution has remained out of reach due to the cost. So, one city representative reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help the city of Libby purchase and install powered door openers for all six City Hall exterior doors, allowing all Libby residents to access their local government.
