Pickleball Thrower Helps Lander Volunteers Teach the Growing Sport

  • Local Champion: Popo Agie Pickleball Club
  • Date Funded: June 17, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $2,049

In Lander, pickleball is gaining popularity and many residents—especially kids—want to learn, but volunteer instructors struggle to teach technique like stance and swing while also serving the ball. When a pickleball player and volunteer recognized how much a pickleball thrower would help with instruction, she reached out to LOR for support. Like a pitching machine for baseball, the thrower will allow instructors to focus on teaching fundamentals without needing to serve, making it easier for more people to learn and enjoy the sport. The Popo Agie Pickleball Club‘s growing youth interest means more kids will be able to develop skills and join the club through summer outreach programs. LOR’s funding will help purchase the pickleball thrower, removing the barrier that’s kept more Lander residents from discovering this beloved sport.
