Path Repairs Reconnect Libby Residents to Safe Walking Routes

  • Local Champion: Libby K-12 Schools
  • Date Funded: July 22, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $25,850

A popular walking path that safely connects Libby’s west side residential areas to downtown businesses has become impassable due to tree root damage and erosion. Without the path—situated behind Plummer School and extending to Libby Middle High School—residents must navigate a 1.2-mile stretch of highway that lacks adequate shoulders or sidewalks. One local who frequently uses the path with his wife wanted to restore safe pedestrian access for the entire community, including those with mobility challenges. So, he reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help Libby Public Schools hire contractors to repair approximately 500 feet of damaged pathway, removing tree roots and replacing eroded sections. The restored path will allow residents of all ages and abilities to safely travel between their neighborhoods and Libby’s commercial district, reconnecting them with the community.
