New Mats Expand Youth Wrestling Program Activities in Monte Vista

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista School District NO. C-8
  • Date Funded: November 20, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $20,000

Wrestling, especially compared to other youth sports, represents an affordable, accessible option for many Monte Vista families. However, the local middle school and recreational programs lacked CHSAA compliment mats, which limited their ability to enroll new wrestlers and host tournaments. So, the Monte Vista School District athletic director and a Monte Vista Takedown Club board member contacted LOR for help.

LOR’s funding will enable the groups to purchase two new, high-performance wrestling mats, which can be easily transported and shared between the organizations, supporting opportunities for competition and personal development for young wrestlers in Monte Vista and the surrounding communities.
