New Equipment Helps the Sheriff’s Office Recruit in Libby

  • Local Champion: Lincoln County Sheriff Reserves
  • Date Funded: May 22, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $8,979

The Lincoln County Sheriff Reserves, volunteers who assist with law enforcement when they are short-handed or in an emergency, are critically important in Libby right now, as they city is experiencing an extreme shortage of police officers. However, the Sheriff’s Office is unable to accept new reserve recruits due to a lack of proper protective gear—which is only compounding the law enforcement shortage throughout the community. To address the problem, the leadership of the Lincoln County Sheriff Reserves hoped to acquire new equipment. Funding from the LOR Foundation was used to purchase nine sets of protective body armor and vests, which should help the Sheriff’s Office recruit reserves and make Libby a safer place to live.

This project was fiscally sponsored by the Montana Community Foundation
