New Ceremony Gives Lander Homeschool Graduates Their Moment to Shine

  • Local Champion: Project Carpe Diem
  • Date Funded: March 24, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $2,995

In Lander, homeschooling families have built a robust community of support, but their graduating seniors miss out on the traditional cap-and-gown ceremony that public school students experience. When one homeschool parent realized her own senior wouldn’t have this milestone celebration with friends, she reached out to LOR with a plan to create an annual homeschool graduation ceremony. LOR’s funding will help purchase durable items like caps, gowns, and decorations that can be passed down each year, along with consumables for the inaugural event’s reception. This community-driven initiative establishes a sustainable tradition where each year’s “parents of seniors” inherit both the supplies and the responsibility for planning the next ceremony, ensuring future homeschool graduates can celebrate their achievements surrounded by family, friends, and their unique educational community.
