Mobile Vision Screening Makes Eye Care Accessible to All Libby Residents

  • Local Champion: Cabinet Peaks Medical Center
  • Date Funded: May 2, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $9,343

Many Libby residents—especially those without insurance—avoid vision screenings because they find clinical settings intimidating or inaccessible. While professional screenings are available in town, the requirement to visit medical offices creates barriers that prevent some families from getting early vision testing for their children. One local pediatric physical therapist saw this gap, so she reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help Cabinet Peaks Medical Center purchase a portable vision screener and blackout tent, allowing staff to offer free vision screenings at community events throughout Libby. The mobile service will help identify vision problems in children as young as six months old while connecting families with resources for follow-up care.
