Local Police Training Helps Keep Weiser Safe

  • Local Champion: Weiser City Police Department
  • Date Funded: December 4, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $9,000

It’s essential for Weiser police officers to stay up-to-date on training in order to keep the community safe, but to do so they typically have to travel outside of the community to complete required training hours—something that costs the police department precious time and resources. To address the issue, department staff reached out to the LOR Foundation with an idea for localizing training efforts. With support from LOR, the department will purchase equipment for local officers to complete training hours in Weiser so the no longer have to leave town. Moreover, all officers will be able to attend local training together, rather than sending one or two officers at a time.
