A Cortez Gallery Gives Artists Experiencing Homelessness Supplies—and Their Own Show

  • Local Champion: an individual
  • Date Funded: September 2, 2022
  • Grant Amount: $5,060

Many people who are unhoused in Cortez have artistic skills, but these individuals do not have a way to create, display, or sell their art. One Cortez artist and gallery owner, who has worked with residents experiencing homelessness, reached out with a solution. She wanted to provide unhoused artists with art supplies and then host an art show for their work called “No Fixed Abode.” Proceeds from the sale of the pieces will go back to the artists. The LOR Foundation helped purchase supplies—including art kits and frames—and helped with the cost of marketing the event, which will take place on November 11 at the Turquoise Raven Art Gallery in Cortez.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Onward! A Legacy Foundation
