Planning Workshop Helps Taos Residents Access County Cultural Events Funding

  • Local Champion: Downtown Taos
  • Date Funded: March 5, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $3,300

Taos residents interested in hosting cultural events often need guidance and support to plan successful events and navigate available county funding opportunities. Without structured support, some community members—particularly first-time or under-resourced organizers—face challenges in accessing the newly established Cultural Events Fund and in competing effectively for public investment in their ideas.

To ensure equitable access to this funding, a community action team identified a solution: host a pilot workshop to build event-planning skills and provide structured support for applying to the county-funded Cultural Events Fund.

With support from LOR, Taos MainStreet will develop and deliver a comprehensive workshop for 50+ participants that covers event-planning fundamentals, budgeting, logistics, venue options, and application guidance. Participants will receive a practical event-planning tool guide and resource directory, with optional one-on-one coaching to help them complete competitive proposals, ultimately expanding community programming and increasing economic activity through cultural events throughout Taos.
