Leak Detection Equipment Protects Questa-Area Water Supply

  • Local Champion: Cerro Mutual Domestic Water Consumer Association

For Questa-area households, reliable water access depends on a community-run system that has long lacked the tools to detect leaks before they cause significant damage. When leaks go undetected, the district can lose treated water for days or even weeks while operators search for the source—depleting storage, reducing pressure, and disrupting service. After learning about these challenges, a board member of the Cerro Water District came up with a solution: fund a water leak detector so operators can identify and isolate leaks as they occur, reduce water loss, and maintain the system pressure households depend on. LOR’s funding helped the Cerro Water District purchase a SubSurface LD-18 Digital Water Leak Detector, which will serve as an ongoing operational tool—protecting a limited community water supply and ensuring more reliable access to an essential service for Questa-area residents.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Localogy.
