Lander Young Professionals Build Bonds and Help With Worker Retention

  • Local Champion: Lander Young Professionals
  • Date Funded: December 2, 2021
  • Grant Amount: $7,250

Lander businesses struggle to retain young professionals in part because of a lack of networking opportunities—a problem for many rural communities. A group of young Lander locals came up with a creative solution: In the summer of 2021, they created the Lander Young Professionals, a group of young people who meet at networking events and undertake acts of service with the goal of building bonds and furthering career development. The group needed help with a sustainability plan. LOR’s funding supported additional events and the development of a marketing and sustainability plan.

This project is fiscally sponsored by the Lander Community Foundation

Impact

A recent LYP event—the first sponsored by LOR—at the Coalter Loft brought in nearly 60 young people, including more than 20 who joined for the first time.
