Welding Equipment Expands Career Training for Questa Students

  • Local Champion: Questa Independent School District
  • Date Funded: March 18, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $9,930

Questa students currently lack sufficient welding equipment for hands-on technical education, limiting opportunities to build practical skills that support career pathways in high-demand trades. When a teacher recognized that outdated and malfunctioning equipment posed safety risks and slowed student projects, she reached out to LOR with a plan to expand training capacity.

LOR’s funding will enable the Questa Independent School District to purchase two multi-process welding stations with safety gear, allowing more students to participate in applied learning projects, gain hands-on experience, and develop workforce-ready welding skills—a high-demand skill set in construction, manufacturing, and agriculture across northern New Mexico and southern Colorado.
