Greenhouse Updates Support Hands-on Learning in Questa

  • Local Champion: Roots and Wings Community School
  • Date Funded: November 18, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $6,500

For over twenty years, the greenhouse at Lama’s Roots and Wings Community School has been an important extension of the classroom, providing children with the opportunity to gain hands-on experiences in plant science and sustainability practices that foster a connection to nature year-round, regardless of weather conditions. However, the need for functionality and energy efficiency improvements has become increasingly apparent in recent years. So, a Roots and Wings teacher contacted LOR for help to fund the updates.

LOR’s funding will cover all the material needed to optimize space, lighting, and temperature/climate control, helping to ensure the greenhouse’s continued value as a teaching tool for another 20 years.
