Getting the Word Out About Lander’s Project Graduation

  • Local Champion: Fremont County School District 1
  • Date Funded: May 4, 2021
  • Grant Amount: $972

Project Graduation began more than 40 years ago as a way for graduating high school seniors to celebrate their accomplishments in a safe, supervised, drug- and alcohol-free environment. In Lander, the tradition has become a rite of passage and a way for graduating class members—who have typically been schoolmates since kindergarten—to celebrate their achievements and solidify their shared, small-town bonds before heading off for new adventures. Parents and students work together to organize a fun all-night hurrah that includes games, prizes, food, and music, and the event is truly a positive, safe community send-off to Lander’s young adults. In an effort to maximize engagement and make sure word got out about the Class of 2021’s Project Graduation event, Fremont County School District 1 sought to do a bigger social media push than in years past. LOR provided $975 to help with strategic messaging as well as targeted posts highlighting students’ reflections and favorite memories of growing up in Lander.
