Gas Detection Equipment Improves Emergency Response in Monte Vista

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista Fire Protection District
  • Date Funded: May 20, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $7,300

Many Monte Vista homeowners rely on propane tanks as their primary source of heating and cooking fuel. So, it’s a problem that the Monte Vista Fire Protection District lacks the necessary equipment to calibrate its gas detectors, which are essential for detecting and responding to propane and natural gas leaks in the community. After coming up with a solution, the district’s fire chief reached out to LOR to share his idea. LOR’s funding will help the Monte Vista Fire Protection District purchase an auto-calibration kit that will ensure monthly equipment checks are completed reliably and that will provide accurate readings during emergencies, improving safety for both firefighters and the public.
