Exercise Equipment Helps Taos Elders Stay Active and Independent

  • Local Champion: Taos Whole Community Health
  • Date Funded: June 6, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $8,010

With limited free senior fitness program in Taos, many older adults struggle to stay healthy and independent. Without proper support or access to safe exercise equipment and training, they face greater risks of illness and injury. One longtime wellness instructor wanted to help Taos elders improve their physical and social health, so she reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help Taos Whole Community Health purchase yoga blocks, weights, balance pads, and other specialized equipment to expand the successful “Age Up Well Taos” program. The equipment will support functional movement, strength, balance, and coordination activities, helping Taos seniors stay healthy and engaged in their community.
