Event Supplies and Rental Support Help Monte Vista Launch an Annual Aging Conference

  • Local Champion: SLV Area Colorado State University Extension
  • Date Funded: March 20, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $5,000

Monte Vista does not have free community events that provide education and resources to support the needs of its aging population. After identifying this gap, one staff member with the San Luis Valley Area CSU Extension office had the idea to create an annual gathering focused on the physical, social, emotional, mental, spiritual, and financial aspects of aging. LOR’s funding helped the San Luis Valley Area extension office rent the Ski Hi Complex, purchase event supplies, and cover speaker fees for Monte Vista’s inaugural Celebrating Aging Conference, establishing important connections between Monte Vista’s aging population and local resources.

This project is fiscally sponsored by San Luis Valley Development Resources Group.
