Cortez Performers Build Connections at a Professional Conference

  • Local Champion: Cortez Cultural Center
  • Date Funded: January 9, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $2,000

While Cortez is home to many talented performers, there are no designated tour routes for them in the area, leading to a lack of exposure to professional programs and educational opportunities. To address this problem, staff at the Cortez Cultural Center hoped to send local performers to an Association of Performance Arts Professionals conference where they could learn, make connections, and build relationships with other professionals. While the Cultural Center could pay admission to the conference, they didn’t have enough to cover travel costs—which is where LOR came in. With help from LOR, local performers will be able to travel to the conference and, hopefully, make career-changing connections.
