Cortez Locals Expand the Citizens’ Guide to Local Government

  • Local Champion: Cortez locals
  • Date Funded: May 31, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $4,872

Engagement with local government is at an all-time high in Cortez, but city and county government structure—with its many departments and different jurisdictions—can be confusing and overwhelming for some Cortez residents. Earlier this year, the LOR Foundation helped locals create a citizens’ guide to local government, which was distributed both in print and digital formats at libraries, post offices, schools, and other locations. And it was such a hit that copies ran out quickly. To help locals stay engaged, LOR is helping residents print another 1,500 guides that will make accessing local government even easier.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Onward! A Legacy Foundation
