Cortez Demystifies Local Government With a Citizens’ Guide

  • Local Champion: Cortez locals
  • Date Funded: January 30, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $6,465

City and county government structure can be confusing and overwhelming for some Cortez residents. With its many departments and different jurisdictions, locals sometimes struggle to know whom to contact at each municipality. To improve clarity, one group of local residents came up with a simple solution: create a citizens’ guide to local government that could be distributed both in print and digital formats through libraries, post offices, schools, real estate brokers, chambers of commerce, and more. LOR’s funding helped support the design and printing of more 1,000 guides, making accessing local government that much easier.
