City of Lander Raises Matching Funds for First Affordable Assisted Living Facility

  • Local Champion: City of Lander
  • Date Funded: May 10, 2021
  • Grant Amount: $9,500

Lander’s  lack of affordable assisted living options makes life challenging for families with loved ones who need to transition away from independent living but aren’t ready for full nursing care. The city’s assistant mayor was clear about the solution: Raise $1.5 million toward the construction costs of an assisted living and memory care center in Lander—and in the process become eligible for a USDA grant that would cover the rest. With help from LOR, the City of Lander in partnership with the Lander Housing Authority were able to hire a marketing expert who worked with a seasoned local fundraiser to develop an ambitious, achievable plan for securing funding and moving closer to realizing the vision of building an assisted living facility for the people of Lander.
