Bike Racks for Lander Buses Improve Public Transportation Options for All

  • Local Champion: Wind River Transportation Authority
  • Date Funded: April 22, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $4,104

Lander’s public bus system doesn’t serve the community as well as it could because none of the Wind River Transportation Authority buses have bike racks. This means Lander residents using public transportation only have the option to walk from where they are dropped off, which is not convenient and discourages use of public transportation. WRTA staff came up with a simple solution: Install bike racks on the back of its buses to increase convenience and ridership. WRTA has already applied for federal funding to support this effort and reached out to LOR for a little extra help to launch it. LOR’s funding will help pay for some of the bike racks as well as materials for an awareness initiative so folks know about the new additions.
