A Van Increases Access to Mountain Biking for Cortez Youth

Cortez has a thriving mountain biking culture, but many local students cannot participate because of transportation challenges, especially when practices begin shortly after school ends. One staff member with High Desert DEVO saw how these barriers were preventing interested students from joining, so he reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help High Desert DEVO purchase a passenger van to transport Cortez youth to training, competitions, and practices throughout the region. The van will not only enable more students from diverse backgrounds to participate, but also help the organization gather the information needed to qualify for additional grants aimed at expanding access to mountain biking.
