A Sunny Solution: Food Bank Uses Solar Power to Offset Lander Utility Costs

  • Local Champion: Lander Care and Share Food Bank
  • Date Funded: April 21, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Energy costs have escalated quickly over the last year in Lander, and the Care and Share Food Bank is feeling the pinch along with many individuals and organizations. The food bank hoped to address rising energy costs by using solar panels that had been installed on the roof years ago, but unfortunately those panels were damaged and had never been used. With a potential solution in mind the food bank’s executive director reached out to the LOR Foundation, which made a grant that helped the organization restore the unused solar panels and purchase additional panels to help reduce the monthly utility costs and help them serve more Lander residents.
