A New Playground Creates Fun for Monte Vista Students

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista Schools
  • Date Funded: December 13, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $5,452

Double Dutch, hopscotch, basketball. The school playground is a magical place where kids can socialize and recreate, making friends and building memories. At Monte Vista Middle School, students don’t have the opportunity to do any of that. Though the school has land, it has no useable outdoor space where students can eat or play during the day. Parents and Monte Vista School District staff wanted to have at least one outdoor area where students could go during lunch and breaks. They reached out to LOR with a solution to create a seating area and volleyball court that students could use throughout the day. With LOR’s help, the school district will purchase benches and supplies to sand and paint the volleyball court, giving students a new refuge for fun and entertainment.
