A Community Meal and Meeting Aims to Create Common Understanding

  • Local Champion: Libby Area Business Association
  • Date Funded: July 25, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $500

Libby has become quite turbulent since the COVID-19 pandemic and the community has become disconnected, particularly from several of its public offices, causing community confusion and discontentment. One group of locals came up with a potential solution: Provide time and space for a community meal for community members and representatives from public entities like the police, city council, fire department, and local schools, where questions can be asked and updates can be provided. The hope is that meetings such as these will be a tool for informing citizens about emerging issues, gauging where the community stands on certain subjects, and serving as a place to identify and implement solutions to problems. LOR’s funding will support the cost of food and equipment for the meal.
