Trained Volunteers Help Libby Residents Navigate Housing Insecurity

  • Local Champion: South Lincoln County Housing Solutions
  • Date Funded: October 15, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $802

Many Libby residents facing homelessness don’t know where to turn for help, or how to complete the complex paperwork that is often required for assistance programs. After a community housing group identified this challenge, one Libby local came up with the idea to train a network of volunteers who could act as housing advocates and guide people through applications for housing vouchers, utility assistance, and home repair programs. LOR’s funding helped South Lincoln County Housing Solutions rent a space and purchase supplies, including binders and printed materials, to train volunteers. The new volunteers will then train other Libby residents interested in becoming housing advocates, creating a sustainable system that helps Libby residents access the housing support they need.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Kootenai Country Montana.
