Taos County Gives Senior Citizens a Few Nights on The Town

  • Local Champion: Taos County
  • Date Funded: December 1, 2022
  • Grant Amount: $3,000

Especially in the wake of the pandemic, Taos senior citizens have had limited social and recreational opportunities to gather—meaning they’re spending more time alone and feeling disconnected from the community. To help address this problem, staff at the Town of Taos and Taos County wanted to host a series of events to engage elders in the community, providing a safe space to socialize and have fun. Funding from the LOR Foundation was used to support a free event in December 2022 in which more than 200 seniors gathered for a catered meal and a night of socializing. Building on that momentum, funding will be used to plan more events in 2023.

This project is fiscally sponsored by the Taos Community Foundation
