Supplies and Supports Expand Peer-Led Mental Health Program in Monte Vista

  • Local Champion: Sargent School District NO. Re-33j
  • Date Funded: March 31, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $7,521

Monte Vista students across all grade levels are experiencing increasing stress, bullying, and mental health challenges that impact their sense of belonging and academic success. After successfully implementing the Sources of Strength curriculum at the elementary level with support from the Attorney General’s Office, a school counselor at Sargent High School identified a gap at the secondary level and approached LOR with an idea to expand the program.

LOR’s funding will support this expansion by providing supplies such as strength bracelets, journals, t-shirts, and furniture for a designated safe space, as well as funding an anti-bullying speaker to support the peer-led mental health initiative for secondary students.

The expanded program will empower students to promote positive messaging, build resilience, strengthen connections, and encourage help-seeking behaviors—fostering a supportive school culture in which all Sargent students have the tools they need to thrive socially and academically.
