Retrofitted Van Enriches Instruction for Aspiring Filmmakers in Taos

  • Local Champion: Film and Digital Media Arts Dept
  • Date Funded: January 12, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $20,000

UNM Taos’ Digital Media Arts program provides students with the hands-on skills to produce original content and the entrepreneurial mindset tow work in the media industry. As part of its curriculum, the program takes students to offsite events and production locations, but a lack of affordable, reliable transportation posed a consistent challenge. To solve this problem, a UNM instructor reached out to LOR with a solution: purchase and retrofit a used vehicle that could serve as a designated adventure filmmaking van. LOR’s funding will enable the Media Arts program to retrofit and upgrade their new van with a trailer hitch, snow tires, and more, helping to ensure students can travel safely to offsite locations and expand their professional networks across the state.
