Renovations at Libby’s Animal Shelter Offer a Safer Space for Pets and Staff

  • Local Champion: Tobacco Valley Animal Shelter, Libby
  • Date Funded: July 7, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $3,600

The current condition of Tobacco Valley Animal Shelter in Libby is making it a dangerous environment for the volunteers who run it and the animals that it houses. Of most concern, the cement floors are cracked and very hard to clean and the building lacks dividing walls to keep newly received (and sometimes reactive) animals away from each other and shelter staff. To address the problem, shelter staff contacted the LOR Foundation with an idea for improving the safety conditions. With a small grant, the shelter will repair the floors, install three dividing walls, as well as three windows so that the animals have natural light and shelter staff can more safely manage the pets.
