Portable Power Improves Access to Local Libby Produce

  • Local Champion: Farmers Market at Libby
  • Date Funded: April 18, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $1,538

The Farmers Market at Libby provides a vital marketplace for local vendors and access to fresh produce for SNAP recipients, but the market’s new location lacks electricity for essential services. Without power, vendors can’t process credit card payments, SNAP benefits can’t be redeemed, and announcements can’t be made to the hundreds of visitors who attend each week. One board member wanted to ensure that the lack of power wouldn’t threaten the market’s success, so she reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help the farmers market purchase portable power stations, a sound system with microphones, and a heavy-duty wagon to transport the equipment, ensuring vendors can process digital payments and SNAP beneficiaries can buy locally grown produce.
