Beautification Project Creates Welcoming Gateway to Questa

For years, Questa residents and visitors have passed through the town’s central intersection at Highways 522 and 38, where dated brickwork, overgrown weeds, and a broken clock have left the area looking neglected and failing to reflect the community’s history and pride. After residents shared their desire for improvements, the Village of Questa and the Questa Economic Development Fund (QEDF) formed a volunteer Beautification Committee, where a member proposed a solution: revitalize the space with water-efficient xeriscaping and heritage elements that celebrate Questa’s mining and agricultural history. LOR’s funding helped QEDF purchase materials and hire contractors to grade the site, install gold-colored fractured rock and smooth river rock, place 18 boulders, and install a new drip irrigation system. Together, these improvements will transform a prominent intersection into a welcoming community gateway that reflects Questa’s identity and supports the village’s broader efforts to strengthen community pride and economic vitality for years to come.
