New Water Refill Stations in City Park Ensure Lander’s Active Locals Stay Hydrated

  • Local Champion: City of Lander, Wyoming
  • Date Funded: June 28, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $29,594

As Lander’s largest and most shaded green space, City Park is a very popular place. It’s home to a well-loved large playground and many local summer events. The riverwalk also borders the park and many walkers/joggers/bikers cut through the pathways in the park to start or finish their workouts. Given the popularity of the park, it’s important to provide access to water for the active locals who use it. Unfortunately, the current watering stations are more than 30 years old so the water doesn’t come out very well (if at all), and the city can no longer find replacement parts. One local high school student worked with the city to come up with a solution and reached out to LOR for help launching it: Install new water stations in the park that serve all kinds of visitors, including those with disabilities, children, and also pets! LOR’s funding will support the purchase and installation of four modern water stations feature two drinking fountains (both with different heights), a water bottle refill station, and even a pet drinking fountain for Fido at the bottom.
