New Walking Trail Connects City Park to Riverside Paths in Lander

  • Local Champion: City of Lander
  • Date Funded: May 19, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $24,000

In Lander, residents love outdoor recreation and open spaces, but the town lacks a connected trail system—a gap clearly identified during Master Planning when the community expressed strong desire for more trails and outdoor recreation opportunities. When the community development director realized the city’s newly acquired property adjacent to City Park could help accomplish this goal with a walking trail that connects easily to the existing river walk around City Park, creating a longer continuous pathway. The new walking trail—just over half a mile—will be wide enough for two people to walk side by side or a parent to walk alongside a child on a bike, serving a wide age range. Trees and benches will be strategically planted along the route. Wyoming Pathways will provide project oversight, and the city will contribute materials while a conservation corps crew completes the work. LOR’s funding will help purchase benches, trees, and cover conservation corps labor costs.
