New Equipment Expands Access to Monte Vista Cheer Team

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista School District NO. C-8
  • Date Funded: June 18, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $9,644

The cost of participating in the Monte Vista High School cheer team had become so high that many families struggled to afford it, despite wanting their children involved in this positive, school-based activity. As rising expenses created inequities in access, and the head coach even offered to forgo her stipend to help offset costs, a staff member reached out to LOR with an idea to make participation more affordable. LOR’s funding will help purchase 24 cheer uniforms and 31 pom-pom sets that will remain school property and be reused over multiple seasons, reducing annual costs for current and future athletes. This investment will allow the cheer program to redirect future fundraising efforts toward competition travel and related expenses, while ensuring all interested Monte Vista students can participate without financial strain on their families.
