Lander Water Education Campaign Builds Trust Through Transparency

  • Local Champion: Popo Agie Conservation District
  • Date Funded: February 18, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Lander residents sometimes believe there is a lack of transparency from local government entities who make decisions on behalf of the community, leaving some residents feeling that their voices don’t matter. This can be an especially difficult problem when dealing with thorny issues like water and water quality. To help untangle the issue and earn community trust in relation to a proposed area water study, the director of the Popo Agie Conservation District came up with an outreach and education plan and reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help hire communications experts to create educational materials, host community meetings with refreshments, and ensure accurate information reaches residents through multiple media channels. This proactive approach not only addresses immediate concerns about the water study but also creates a model for transparent communication that local entities can follow in the future.
