Lander Senior Citizens Gain Educational Opportunities With New Tech and Training

  • Local Champion: Lander Senior Citizens Center
  • Date Funded: December 8, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $340

The Lander Senior Citizens Center lacks the capacity to host some important educational opportunities in person, and seniors often don’t know about the online classes that are available to them—or don’t have experience with the technology required to attend them online. Those classes include things like movement classes designed for seniors with different levels of mobility, AARP driving courses that earn seniors 10 percent off their insurance each month. and other finance or daily living support classes. A local resident came up with a solution: Make a laptop accessible to groups of seniors for these classes and train them in how to operate things like Zoom, so they’re able to attend. LOR’s funding will support the purchase of a laptop that can be shared, as well as to cover the cost of technology training for seniors.
